The Act

The Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004 received Royal Assent on 22 July and came into force on 1 October 2004. It replaced the Fire Services Act 1947, with a new legislative framework to ensure the Fire and Rescue Service is able to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
